CM: Milan’s foundation is Thiaw and Tomori – only two goals conceded

With Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw playing together, AC Milan have conceded just two goals this season. The two centre-backs have done really well together and are, as a report highlights, the foundation of the team.

Milan have played nine games in all competitions so far this season, claiming 18/21 points in the league and drawing their first two games in the Champions League. In the process, they have conceded eight goals.

However, five of them came in the derby (when Tomori was suspended) and another came against Roma, after Tomori’s red card. As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Milan have just conceded two goals with Tomori and Thiaw playing together.

The Rossoneri have also kept consecutive clean sheets in the Champions League, despite playing Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund who usually boast high-scoring averages. The PSG test, in that sense, will be very interesting.

The centre-backs complement each other really well. Tomori covers a lot of ground with his pace and Thiaw is strong in the duels thanks to his size. However, while both have specific strengths, it must be said that they are good at most things.

The two are without a doubt the foundation of Milan, as the report states, and this can go a long way if the attack gets underway properly. Stefano Pioli also has Pierre Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino to rely on in the future, and we all know that depth is essential.
