AC Milan could be able to land Diogo Dalot from Manchester United on a permanent deal for a fee lower than first thought, a report claims.
The Portuguese defender arrived on loan from the Red Devils with no option or obligation to buy included as part of the deal, meaning the Rossoneri will have to negotiate directly with United if they wish to keep him beyond June.
According to Calciomercato.com, Milan do not currently have a meeting with the Premier League side on their agenda for Dalot but has put the situation on their list of things to tackle. The priority at the moment remains the renewals of Hakan Calhanoglu and Gianluigi Donnarumma for obvious reasons given both are expiring in June.
The report adds that Dalot is not part of Solskjaer’s plans, as he has chosen Wan-Bissaka as his starter and wants to sign a new right-back to complete the department. Contacts have been made with Atletico Madrid for Kieran Trippier and with Norwich for Max Aarons to address that.
The negotiation with Roma for Chris Smalling shows that some negotiating will be needed, because Milan have no intention of overpaying and want a discount on the €19m paid by United to snatch him from Porto.
Dalot is happy in Milan and hopes to stay with the Rossoneri, otherwise he will look for a new challenge which could be Sevilla, as Monchi is interested in signing him for the Andalusians.
