COPE: Milan to rival Atletico Madrid for Valencia centre-back

AC Milan are set to do battle with Spanish side Atletico Madrid for Valencia centre-back Christhian Mosquera, who has been one of the breakout stars this season in La Liga, a report claims.

According to the Spanish publication COPE, the 19-year-old defender is attracting real interest from around Europe and could be Valencia’s next big export.

Milan actually tried to sign Mosquera last summer but were unsuccessful, and he will certainly cost more money now that he has a successful season under his belt. They have been linked with him for multiple years.

Mosquera’s name was discussed when Milan were completing the deal for Yunus Musah from the Spanish side. His contract automatically extended to 2026 this season due to the number of games he has played triggering a clause. He has played 38 games this season and is Valencia’s shining light.

Mosquera is said to be very happy at Valencia right now and is unlikely to try and force a move away, but Valencia is not a rich club and the opportunity to cash in on a player like Mosquera may be too good to ignore.

The Spaniard is a product of Valencia’s academy and has spent the entirety of his career to date there, meaning it would be an emotional farewell.
