Stefano Pioli confirmed in his pre-match press conference yesterday that another centre-back is being worked on, and there is reportedly a name that stands out as a target.
According to this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Milan management are at work to deal with the constant injuries that the squad has suffered in the centre-back department. After bringing Matteo Gabbia back, the feeling is that there is still not enough cover.
Pioli needs another central defender and he confirmed it himself in the press conference he did before the Roma game, which took place at Milanello yesterday.
“The club are working to fill this need. Gabbia has arrived, Terracciano has arrived, we have filled our difficulties a bit but we are certainly still missing a defender,” he said.
In this regard, the paper states that Geoffrey Moncada and his team are trying to sign Tanguy Nianzou Kouassi from Sevilla, formerly of Bayern Munich and PSG.
He is struggling for playing time in Spain (three league appearances this season so far) and for this reason the possibility of a loan with an option to buy is being explored, which seems to be the preferred formula for the management.
