New Everton winger Arnaut Danjuma has explained his reasoning for choosing the Premier League side over a move to AC Milan or any other interested party.
Speaking to Everton’s official media (via Pianeta Milan), the Dutchman said that the history of Everton as a football club and the quality of Sean Dyche as a coach were the major factors when choosing to sign.
“It’s amazing to join Everton and I’m really happy to be here. It’s been a long time coming to join such a massive club as Everton and it makes me proud,” he said.
“I had interest from other clubs but there was a pull towards Everton because of the fans, the manager and the history of the Club and it’s second time lucky for me.”
Milan had been very close to securing the signing of Danjuma on a loan deal from Villarreal, but Everton then managed to strike an agreement with both the player and Villarreal which led to the move accelerating rapidly.
He has already been officially unveiled by Everton, but Milan are now close to signing Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal instead in a bid to bolster the options on the wings.
Milan have already signed Christian Pulisic and should Chukwueze arrive, Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers could both be sold.
