Deulofeu pledges allegiance to Milan in Scudetto fight and hopes for another big move

Gerard Deulofeu has revealed that he is supporting AC Milan in their bid to win the Scudetto and declared himself ready to join a top club again.

Deulofeu spoke during an interview with AS about a number of different topics including whether this is the best moment of his career, reflecting on his time at Milan and what the future might bring for him.

“Before I was very irregular, now I’m at a point in my life where everything I do has a meaning. When things happen to me, I’ve worked on them before, I see them coming. Family, mental attitude, physical sacrifice, team: everything works and influences,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

Deulofeu joined Milan from Everton in January of 2017 on a six-month loan deal making 18 appearances, scoring four goals and adding three assists. A number of outlets suggested that the deal could be made permanent, but his former club Barcelona swooped in and exercised their buy-back clause.

“I think the performances were similar, but the understanding and organisation of my work was not at the current level. Today I understand the game like never before and I know what the rest of the team are asking of me. That’s why I have consistency,” he said.

TuttoUdinese.it even reported yesterday that Deulofeu could make a surprising return to the Rossoneri as Udinese are interested in bringing Tommaso Pobega the other way as part of a swap.

“My name linked to top italian clubs? At the moment they are just rumours. I realise that I would like to make a leap, but everything has its own process and I am very happy at Udinese. What I have clear is that I am 28 years old and the best of my career is yet to come.”

On the Scudetto race, Deulofeu added: “I hope and pray that Milan will win, of course. I am their fan. They have a small advantage, but they can no longer fail because I think Inter will win in the three remaining games.”
