Di Marzio: Milan linked with versatile Brest defender ahead of January transfer window

AC Milan could make a move for Brest defender Lilian Brassier as the Rossoneri seek to add depth to the defence in the January transfer window, a report claims.

As has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri have identified the 1999-born defender as a good option for the winter market as he is capable of playing as a centre-back and as a left-back.

Whilst centre-backs are what Milan desperately need thanks to the injury crisis they have suffered this season, there is also a desire to sign a backup left-back to rotate with Theo Hernandez.

Not only that, Brassier can play on the left side of a three-man defence which would give Stefano Pioli some more tactical flexibility during the rest of the season.

Brassier has been compared to other left-footed defenders like Real Madrid’s David Alaba and Paris Saint-Germain’s Prisnel Kimpembe.

He has made 15 appearances in Ligue 1 this season for Brest and has one goal to his name, coming against Le Havre early in the campaign.

He has represented the France U19s and U20s but was not involved with the U21s and has not represented the senior team.

Brest are currently fourth in Ligue 1 and enjoying a very promising season.
