The midfield is a difficult area for AC Milan to understand currently, with Ruben Amorim wanting to run assessments before making decisions.

Across the field, Amorim has made it clear that he wants to assess the Milan players. However, the midfield is the area where those assessments are the trickiest, it must be said. Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari both have talent for the future, but whether they can feature now is the question.

With Luka Modric returning and Adrien Rabiot unlikely to lose his spot, too, the spots in the midfield aren’t really there. So, the Portuguese has a challenge on his hands and adding players from the mercato seems unlikely at this moment.

A new midfield target

Speaking on the ‘Calciomercato – L’Originale’ show, via MilanNews, Gianluca Di Marzio offered a new name for the Rossoneri’s mercato in midfield.

“Milan are vigilant, ready to seize any opportunities once Amorim has understood and studied the squad he has at his disposal and has studied the players who have returned from loans. Hojbjerg is an option for the midfield; he is leaving Marseille.”

For what it’s worth, he also provided an update on the Diavolo’s pursuit of Phil Foden and unfortunately, it’s not good news on that front.
