Dortmund director confirms Milan, Roma target will leave on a free transfer

As Ralf Rangnick is expected to lead the youth revolution at AC Milan, they have been linked with many players from the Bundesliga. Mario Götze, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, is one of them.

The 27-year-old’s contract with the German side will expire at the end of the season and it won’t be renewed. This was confirmed by the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc, speaking live on Sky Germany ahead of Wolfsburg-Dortmund.

“We’ll end our working relationship with Mario at the end of the season. It is a joint decision after a transparent conversation. Mario is a really good lad,” he stated.

Earlier this month, German newspaper Bild reported that Milan are interested in Götze, closely monitoring the situation of the player. However, they aren’t the only ones as Lazio and Roma are lurking in the background.

Since then, there have been few confirmations on the matter, perhaps indicating that Milan aren’t that keen on the midfielder. In any case, it has now been fully confirmed that Götze will be available on a free transfer once the season is over.
