CorSport: From Empoli talents to key Milan cogs – Maldini wants to reward midfield duo

Two players made their way from Empoli to AC Milan three years ago and the management want to ensure they stay for a while longer, a report claims.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are working to extend the contract of Ismael Bennacer who has by now become a key pillar of the project and Stefano Pioli’s tactical mechanisms.

The Algeria international has ended up in the crosshairs of some top European clubs and Milan do not want to lose a player with unique qualities within the squad.

The next player to sign a new contract with the Rossoneri should be Rade Krunic. He was a team-mate of Bennacer’s at Empoli and followed him to Milan, and Paolo Maldini knows that he too is a player Pioli values.

The technical and tactical improvement of the Bosnian in the last year has been exponential, always responding when called upon in difficult moments in a variety of positions.
