AC Milan got the better of Lecce on Sunday night, thanks to a poacher’s goal from Niclas Fullkrug. However, no one will complain, that is why he is at the club.

When Fullkrug arrived, there were certainly questions asked. However, he came as a physical option at a low cost. If nothing else, it was a different profile for Massimiliano Allegri to utilise in the box. He is proving to be more, though.
So far, Allegri has used him more than would have probably been expected. Even this week, after it was reported that he could miss a month through injury, he has featured quite regularly. Tonight, though, he managed to get the all-important goal within minutes of coming onto the pitch.
Fullkrug’s reaction
Allegri looked to him in the 73rd minute, and in the 77th, Milan were in the lead. Immediately after the game, he spoke to DAZN via MilanNews.
You really wanted to come on… Did you feel like today was the right day to score?
“I wanted to come on. I was ready, I thought it was a good time to make a change. We were attacking a lot. Great assist from Alexis, receiving an assist like that is every striker’s dream.”
How did this first month at Milan go?
“Incredibly good. I’m truly grateful to be here and wear this jersey. The team welcomed me very warmly. Trust is important for a striker.”
The German also spoke to Sky, via MilanNews, again.
How are you after this difficult week?
“I’m always relaxed, I’m always confident. It was wonderful to score my first goal in this stadium. I was waiting for this goal and I’m very happy.”
Do you think you can find ownership? How are you settling in?
“The first few days have been incredible. There’s a reason this team is fighting for the top spot. We have a great work ethic: we have a lot of quality and character. If you see the assist for the goal, that’s what a striker wants. I scored, and that’s the most important thing.”
Do you play alongside Leao and Pulisic in training? Could that happen in the future?
“I think it depends on the match. We have quality in attack with several players: the coach has to make the decisions to win the match. We need quality from the bench and from the starters.”
