Gattuso: “Second leg? We can’t afford to go for a picnic”

Gennaro Gattuso spoke to Sky Italia after his side lost the first leg against Arsenal.

On Calhanoglu’s penalty situation: “I would have thrown myself, there was contact for sure, but that’s okay. How can you not throw yourself here?”

On the game: “We had a hard time, a lot went wrong, Arsenal were superior to us. They did well to block our play in the midfield. Even though they’re struggling, they still have great quality.”

On the experience: “Those who play football know that it’s difficult to play this type of game. To get the experience, you have to take these type of challenges and gain it.”

On the return leg: “First we’ll focus on our clash with Genoa on Sunday, because it’s important. Then we will think about Arsenal, we can’t afford to go for a picnic.”

On the biggest flaw of the evening: “The biggest problem was when they pressed us high, in over two months we haven’t experienced that kind of pressure.”
