After being linked with virtually every name under the sun, AC Milan appear to have finally settled on signing Junior Messias from Crotone.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) talks about what ended up being a rushed pursuit of a new attacking midfielder. The management wanted to close the signing of Hakan Calhanoglu’s replacement first and instead they have taken it down to deadline day before snatching Messias, a Crotone player who overtook Romain Faivre yesterday as the preferred options.
The two managements have reached an agreement over the transfer of the 30-year-old Brazilian and it will be a paid loan of about €3m an option to buy set at €5-6m. Stefano Pioli will thus have his long-awaited reinforcement for the attack.
Messias can play both as an attacking midfielder and the right winger, and became the main target after another rejection arrived from Brest arrived for Faivre. The French club in fact refused Milan’s latest proposal of €12m plus bonuses, so now it is Messias’ day.
