GdS: Loftus-Cheek, Kamada, Openda and more – Milan’s plan to improve the squad

Now that the 2022-23 season has officially drawn to a close, a meeting is scheduled between Gerry Cardinale, Paolo Maldini and the Ricky Massara to discuss the plans for the summer window.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) explains that the transfer budget available to the Rossoneri directors will come from what was earned byqualifying for the Champions League, plus the proceeds from any sales.

Two signings have already been made: Marco Sportiello will arrive on a free transfer as the deputy to Mike Maignan, while Daichi Kamada’s arrival – also on a free – from Eintracht Frankfurt is practically closed with only bureaucratic issues to resolve.

Then the management will move for a midfielder given Ismael Bennacer’s injury. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the No.1 target and he is valued at €20m by Chelsea, a figure that the Diavolo want to try and reduce.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic retiring and doubts about both Ante Rebic and Divock Origi, two strikers might be needed. The main name in terms of an investment on a young profile is Lois Openda of RC Lens, but stiff competition is driving up the price.

However, his eventual arrival would not exclude that of Marko Arnautovic from Bologna, who could arrive as an experienced option to replace Zlatan.
