GdS: Milan yet to define future of defensive outcast – they have three options

Milan are expected to sign a centre-back in January, having struggled in that position this season due to injuries. Furthermore, they will most likely make a sale in that department, opening for a new arrival.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), Mateo Musacchio is one of the players that could leave the Rossoneri. He’s currently recovering from an injury and his future with the club is yet to be defined.

His contract will expire in 2021 and a renewal certainly is out of the question, as he just hasn’t been good enough in recent years. In fact, Alessio Romagnoli, Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

The options, therefore, are very clear: either the Rossoneri sell him for a small amount in January or let him go for free in the summer. Alternatively, they could let him go for free in January just to get rid of his salary (€2m per year).
