This morning’s La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes that head coach Stefano Pioli will now be increasingly involved in the recruitment process, giving his thoughts on roles to strengthen and the targets that come forward.
The paper claims that Milan are after Christian Pulisic of Chelsea, who has struggled with the London club having scored just once this season. His contract runs out in a year, so there is not much leverage to negotiate a huge fee and Milan sense an opportunity.
Even though he was born in Hersey (Pennsylvania), Pulisic has a Croatian passport and can therefore be registered as an EU player, while the fact he is a USA international has connotations from a brand exposure point of view.
Then there is Marcus Thuram, who is leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer after a season in which he scored 16 goals in 32 games across all competitions. Milan need a striker, but they will have to beat the competition from PSG for the Frenchman.
