GdS: Stock of €15m alternative rising as Fofana frustrations persist

AC Milan are being forced to look into alternatives given that they have not yet made the decisive breakthrough in negotiations over Youssouf Fofana, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report this morning, Emerson Royal should be the third signing of the summer for Milan after Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic, but then attention must turn to completing the midfield.

The main target remains Fofana but Milan have been locked in negotiations with Monaco for weeks, and at present there are no signs that an agreement between the clubs is imminent. That has forced the directors to look at other routes, such as Manu Kone.

The 23-year-old plays for Borussia Monchengladbach and also the French Olympic team who will go for the gold medal against Spain tomorrow. His asking price is fixed at €15m, well below what Monaco want for Fofana who has less than 11 months left on his deal.

There had been previous interest in Kone when he was at Toulouse and the club even made an offer but he chose to join Borussia Monchengladbach. Now the time has come for him to take another step in his career, and it might well be to play in the Champions League at San Siro.
