According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Thuram is making a decision based on two different projects that have been put forward to him by PSG and Milan.

On the one hand the latter can offer him a secure starting role given Olivier Giroud is close to 37 and the department needs a new leader, with Stefano Pioli making it clear a player of the Frenchman’s calibre would be the new No.9.

There is also the belief among the management that he could form a complimentary ‘pairing’ with Rafael Leão given they both have so much speed and physical power on the counter.

On the other hand, PSG are offering him a more lucrative contract economically and the possibility of playing in a group with world-class stars.

The fact that the 25-year-old – whose contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach is about to expire – did not immediately accept the Parisians’ offer increases hope for Milan, who have Gianluca Scamacca and Mehdi Taremi as alterantives.
