GiveMeSport: Sporting CP sensation wants to join Milan over Arsenal

Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres would rather join AC Milan this summer than go to Premier League title challengers Arsenal, according to a report.

Gyokeres joined Sporting CP after Coventry City’s Championship play-off final defeat to Luton Town, with the Portuguese giants having shelled out €25m to land him, and he has been absolutely on fire there.

The Swedish striker has scored 32 goals and registered a further 11 assists in 35 appearances since moving there, which has obviously alerted top clubs that are in the market for a striker.

According to GiveMeSport, Gyokeres’ preferred destination is not the Premier League if he decides to leave Sporting after one season but it is Milan that have ‘caught his attention’ and ‘are in a strong position to open negotiations’.

The 25-year-old’s preference is to join the Rossoneri, where his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic is an advisor and will have a big say in the club’s future. However, it is believes that the Primeira Liga giants will ask for his €100m clause to be paid to let him go.

The report goes on to mention that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch him, while they and Milan could face competition from Chelsea as they are looking to continue their squad overhaul.
