Having been linked within days of Massimiliano Allegri’s sacking over two weeks ago, it seems as though Glasner is on the verge of becoming the next Milan manager. Both The Times in England and MilanNews in Italy have claimed that the Austrian is in advanced talks over taking the job.

There was a six-hour meeting in Germany between Glasner and the RedBird management, conducted by the club’s owner Gerry Cardinale and his right-hand man Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It seemed to be a positive one, and now things are heading towards conclusion.

Of course, given that this is Milan, nothing can be considered done until there are signatures on the dotted line. It would be an intriguing appointment though, given Glasner has not managed in Italy but has won silverware in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and with Crystal Palace in England.

The other big mystery to be resolved is whether Ralf Rangnick will arrive with him. The pair know each other well from their time in the Red Bull galaxy, though it is believed that the German has asked for guarantees that have not been handed over yet.
