CM: How Milan’s January budget will be used with Sportiello unlikely to arrive

AC Milan are unlikely to invest in a new forward this month and instead will use the budget to try get two renewals over the line, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com write about the injury issues that the attacking department are battling at the moment with Ante Rebic, Divock Origi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all injured, something that could see Charles De Ketelaere used in the role of false nine.

Despite this, the Milan management do not seem willing to invest in a new striker as early as the current January window. Noah Okafor remains a top target for next summer, depending on what Red Bull Salzburg choose to do.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will try to convince Atalanta in the next few days to let Marco Sportiello leave early, but at present the most likely outcome is that he will join only from next July.

Any extra budget will be invested in the renewals Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao, plus potentially a young winger such as Angelo Gabriel of Santos. He seems a difficult option at the moment which is why other ideas are being evaluated.
