Ibrahimovic discusses convincing Morata and his son’s contract: “Two different answers”

On the eve of the clash between AC Milan and Manchester City in the Soccer Champions Tour, Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke to the media. Among other things, he discussed the signing of Alvaro Morata and his son recently signing a professional contract.

It was widely reported prior to the official announcement that Ibrahimovic played a big part in convincing Morata to join the club. The day before Morata was announced, meanwhile, the Swede’s son Maximilian Ibrahimovic signed his first professional contract with the Rossoneri.

During the press conference last night, as transcribed by Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Ibrahimovic was asked about both of these things. Regarding the Spaniard, making him feel comfortable was the key to getting the deal over the line.

On Morata…

“I told him that Milan is an ideal place as there will be players like Pulisic, Leao, Okafor, Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek around him. We just want to make him happy, so he will perform at his best. I don’t know a player who isn’t happy here, you just have to concentrate on football. We are super confident and super happy, we welcome him with open arms, he just has to be himself.

On Maximilian…

“I would have two different answers, as a father and as a director… It’s not easy for him, he has to earn everything, as long as he is happy I will support him 100%. I hope he makes his dreams come true, I will judge him by my role as with everyone else,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if Maximilian Ibrahimovic can make it all the way to the first team, now preparing for a season in Serie C with Milan Futuro. Some also have question marks about Morata, but everything suggests that he will be a great addition.
