Josip Ilicic’s story has been widely spoken about in recent years, but there could have been a different chapter AC Milan at one point, as his agent claims.

The Serbian forward has faced a lot of difficulties in recent years, and as a result he took a long break from football. He has since returned to playing, but he no longer is playing at the top level, with respect.

Many will remember his three-year period at his best, where he regularly contributed near or more than 20 goals per season, and for this reason, it does not come as a shock to hear that Milan were once interested. However, it was not during this period when the Rossoneri were first looking at him.

Instead, it was under Massimiliano Allegri, and when speaking to Ilovepalermocalcio.it, his agent, Amir Ruznic, spoke about the interest in his client, whilst also viewing the Diavolo links, and his words have been relayed by Pianeta Milan.

Which other teams has Ilicic been close to?

“The last one was Sevilla. Director Monchi had called me, but the boy didn’t feel like it in light of his own personal affairs. In the past, he was close to Giuntoli’s Napoli, but a deal was not reached with Atalanta. Even before that, there was interest from Milan led by Allegri. He was also sought by second-tier English clubs, which did not pique his interest. Sevilla, Napoli and AC Milan were undoubtedly three situations that could have materialised.”
