Milan headed into the game knowing that three points were needed to maintain some sort of distance, with Roma beating Parma earlier in the evening. However, after conceding early on, an initial optimism for the Rossoneri was completely wiped out.
Atalanta took control of the game and every time they went forward, they seemed to find ways through Milan’s defence. It was only in the final phase of the game that things got interesting, as the away side switched off a little and allowed the Rossoneri to score twice.
Nevertheless, in the end, it was another defeat for Massimiliano Allegri’s men. They are thus level on points with Roma in the standings, meaning they could drop out of the Champions League zone next week.
