AC Milan felt that everything was in place for them to sign Renato Sanches from Lille until Paris Saint-Germain’s interest emerged, it is claimed.
According to reports from L’Equipe (via MilanNews) this morning, Sanches had found an agreement with Milan over personal terms but when PSG came in with a double salary offer of €6m net per season, he no longer had any doubts about the his choice to stay and play in France.
The French source adds that it was Jorge Mendes who started the negotiations between PSG and Lille, putting the two clubs in contact and gradually bringing them closer together in the negotiations.
The Parisians started with an offer of €10m and then eventually reached €13m as a fixed sum with €2m in bonuses added to complete the operation. Milan, meanwhile, have been left without a midfield signing and must make a new acquisition to replace Franck Kessie.
