Journalist urges fans to ‘keep calm’ amid perceived lack of action as Milan ‘have already spent €40m’

AC Milan fans have been urged to stay calm by journalist Antonio Vitiello amid concerns over the club’s perceived lack of spending.

In a tweet, Vitiello of MilanNews responded to a fan who was questioning the fact that Sandro Tonali and Fikayo Tomori have not been made permanent deals yet, Hakan Calhanoglu’s renewal is not sorted, while Alessio Romagnoli’s future remains uncertain too.

He also mentions that Davide Calabria and Franck Kessie’s contracts – expiring in 2022 – are on the list of things to do as is the signing of Olivier Giroud, another striker, one or two midfielders, a winger and potentially even more.

Vitiello’s reply: “Tomori already done 10 days ago, signed Maignan. Milan are the only team that have already spent 40 million. Are the other big Italians moving? Zero. The market is long. Keep Calm.”

The figures he is referring to is from the €27-28m it will take to turn Tomori’s loan from Chelsea into a permanent transfer as per the pre-agreed option to buy as well as the fee for Maignan which is believed to be around €13m as per most major sources.
