Longo: Milan run into passport issues with Popovic signing

AC Milan’s first potential signing of the January transfer window is in jeopardy due to passport problems for Matija Popovic,  a report claims.

As has been reported by Daniele Longo on X, the arrival of the Serbian youngster is subject to a passport complication which the club only has days to resolve.

He is expected to arrive on a free transfer from Partizan Belgrade as his contract expires at the end of December, but Milan could be left needing to arrange another striker’s arrival instead.

He will turn 18 on January 8 and that is when he is expected to undergo his medical and sign his contract at Casa Milan.

The agreement reached with the player will last until June 2028 meaning he will sign for four and a half years, should the deal get over the line this winter.

At the U17 Euros in May, his Serbia beat Italy 2-1 and drew 1-1 against Lamine Yamal’s Spain. All three assists were registered by Popovic.
