Goncalo Ramos was announced as the club’s new striker earlier in the week, and it seems Mario Gila is just one step away. If the Spaniard arrives, then Milan will have strengthened the team with two very good players before the start of the pre-season.
Of course, the Rossoneri are not expected to stop there, with more signings on the horizon. However, it has to be said that they have acted on the most important positions quickly, not letting negotiations drag into late August.
No more soap operas
In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni highlighted how there hasn’t just been a change of pace, but also a change in their methods. Even agent commissions have been agreed too, which were typically a big no-no under Giorgio Furlani’s leadership.
“It’s surprising how, after so many years, Milan are managing the transfer market with such discretion, aiming to provide the chef (the head coach). This should be natural for a football club, but hasn’t been seen in recent times at Casa Milan.
“The way in which the transfer market is being conducted is also surprising: significant sums for transfer fees, salaries, and, it seems, even commissions. Without negotiations that become soap operas and often end badly.
“The timing is surprising too. In recent years, Milan have often closed key deals in the last minute. This time, it’s different. However, whether this will be a fresh start or a temporary improvement will be decided on September 1st, once the transfer window has closed,” he wrote.
