It was a busy few days for Milan last week as they put two major pieces in place for the future. The first was the hiring of Tare as the new sporting director, something that was made official on Monday and allowed him to immediately get to work, with various meetings taking place.

Then, the former Lazio man got straight to tackling the issue of who would be the next head coach, given Sergio Conceicao’s fate has already been determined. The Allegri rumours intensified on the Wednesday, and by the Thursday he had signed his contract after a blitz.

Mazzara’s reconstruction

MilanNews journalist Pietro Mazzara has published his weekly column and he dedicates a large part of it to the pursuit and eventual hiring of Allegri as the new coach.

“A week ago I was here babbling about the difficulties that Milan were having in finding a new coach to replace Sergio Conceiçao. They were hours of waiting, tied to the decision that Antonio Conte would make about whether or not to stay on the Napoli bench because that situation would have generated a waltz.

“But here Igli Tare was very important, who in constant contact with Giovanni Branchini, understood that between Monday and Tuesday, they could have struck the blow to get Massimiliano Allegri, going to ‘secure the queen’ and taking away the most sought-after on the market.

“Well done Igli, the move was significant and decisive, supported by the rest of the management who put aside what were the economic reserves intended for another coach profile (3-3.5 million) breaking through the 5 million wall.

“Because the coach counts and the true story of the facts, from this point of view, told us this. It does not mean that you cannot change your mind or that certain limits cannot be broken, but in this historical moment Milan needs to rebuild its structure from the ground up.

“But the feeling is that the pachydermic slowness of the state apparatus that, in the past, slowed down several decisions, with the arrival of Tare has gone to the attic. Igli Tare is a careful observer and has always heard of the Milanello as a sacred place, capable of creating a protective bubble for those who frequent it on a daily basis.

“And this is thanks to the work of historic workers, who with their work and their humanity have been able to give the various Milans of history that environmental serenity and quality of life that are essential for a football team that must perform at high levels.

“It is no mystery that Sergio Conceiçao’s first period at Milanello was somewhere between stormy and gruff, only to then correct his aim after a slap on the wrist that the club gave him. Tare wanted to visit Milanello and speak with the members of this microcosm to ensure that their work will be valued again.

“In addition, the Milan sporting director is also moving to learn everything about those who surround the players, which is no small thing.”
