Mediaset: €45-50m striker and new manager – Milan plot double raid on Bologna

Joshua Zirkzee continues to impress with Bologna and AC Milan are watching him closely with a view to a potential future move, a report claims.

We reported earlier in the month that Milan are scouting Zirkzee in person and have been left impressed by what they have seen, given he has seven goals in Serie A already in addition to two assists.

SportMediaset report that Zirkzee’s great performances are increasing interest in him and consequently also his market value. Milan are giving him more than a little thought for June, perhaps paired with his mentor Thiago Motta, given that Stefano Pioli’s time as head coach ‘appears to be at an end’.

Marko Arnautovic’s departure towards Inter gave the 22-year-old an undisputed starting place at the center of the attack and he showed off all his great potential. On the other hand, if you join the Bayern Munich youth team at just 16 years old, you have to have something special.

His first brace in Italy against Salernitana gave Bologna a massive three points, and the Dutchman has now contributed to 50% of their goals in the league so far showing his importance.

Zirkzee was signed from Bayern for €8.5m plus a 50% resale clause, but Bologna now value him at no less than €45-50m and have taken him off the market at least until June, when an auction will presumably be launched.

Milan will also participate, because they are not only on the hunt for a deputy to Olivier Giroud but moreso a centre-forward for the future. Not only that, but the source mention again that Gerry Cardinale could focus on Thiago Motta as the next head coach too.
