CM: Liverpool’s emergence and Maldini’s call – the latest on Asensio’s future

The future of Marco Asensio continues to arouse a lot of mystery and AC Milan continued to be mentioned as a possible destination.

Calciomercato.com reports that there are three options on the table for Asensio: to extend his contract with Real Madrid, to leave this summer or to stay until the natural expiration of his contract in 2023.

The first hypothesis is increasingly remote because there are no real dialogues between Real president Florentino Perez and his agent Jorge Mendes, while Los Blancos do not want to lose him for free, so the second option is gaining steam.

Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool are all keen on bringing the Spaniard to the Premier League but Milan have intrigued for months by the opportunity to sign him. Head coach Stefano Pioli likes him, while Paolo Maldini likes him and has also contacted Carlo Ancelotti for information.

The Rossoneri could put something on the plate that Jurgen Klopp could not guarantee which is continuous minutes and a guaranteed starting role, something which plays in their favour.

However, the asking price is €30m and Asensio currently gets €7m net per season. Milan meanwhile will have a budget far from that of the European superpowers and are working on other objectives too, so the situation will only become clearer over time.
