Milan have the Champions League ticket in their hands amid 15-point gap

AC Milan have the Champions League in their hands thanks to the win against Empoli last night, as well as a few other results. In fact, they are now 15 points ahead of the 5th-placed team.

Last season, the Rossoneri had to fight for UCL qualification until the very last round, when they won away at Atalanta and thus finished in 2nd place. It looks like it will be a different story this term, though, as highlighted by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.

Milan obviously won their game against Empoli last night and they were also helped by some results today, from a Champions League perspective. Atalanta only got a 0-0 draw against Genoa and Roma only drew 1-1 against Udinese, putting both teams at 48 points.

This means that the Rossoneri, with their 63 points, are 15 points clear of 5th place with just 9 games left of the season. Of course, they are fighting for the Scudetto and simply a top-four finish isn’t their main focus for the time being.
