MN: Why Milan’s tough remaining fixture list presents a ‘great paradox’

AC Milan and Inter keep on trading blows in the fight for the Scudetto and there could yet be further twists and turns along the way.

MilanNews journalist Pietro Mazzara writes in his latest column that Milan’s remaining fixture list of Hellas Verona away, Atalanta at home and Sassuolo away is certainly harder on paper than that of Inter, who have Empoli at home, Cagliari away and Sampdoria at home.

It is here that there is ‘the great paradox’ though because the Rossoneri ‘perform at their best’ when they face motivated opponents who are fighting for something as opposed to the lesser-ranking sides who look to frustrate.

In addition, playing against those with a motivation to finish as high as possible leads you to further decrease your error rate, both from a mental and a technical point of view. The next 270 minutes will therefore be a real rollercoaster, and the team that emerges on top will be the one that held their nerve better.
