CM: Milan and Inter left with regret as value of Benfica sensation trebles

AC Milan will be left feeling a sense of regret that they did not take a chance on Darwin Nunez, because now it is simply too late.

Darwin Nunez is having a special season and during the Champions League quarter-final exit to Liverpool he did not miss the opportunity to prove once again to the whole world that he is one of the best young strikers in European football.

He scored at Anfield having netted in the first leg, and in addition to that he showed that he can be a real handful with his hold-up play, his movement and his physicality too, which understandably now has top clubs like Liverpool interested given he is on 32 goals for the current campaign.

Calciomercato.com report how the 22-year-old now belongs in the category of Dusan Vlahovic and Erling Haaland as a centre-forward with a guaranteed future in the new generation of top-level strikers.

He is expected to move on this summer but unfortunately for clubs in Serie A – like Inter, Milan and Juventus who previously wanted him – his asking price is too high. Inter even went so far as to secure a verbal agreement for €25m but the deal was blocked for budgetary reasons. Today, he is worth at least triple and it is unlikely that any Italian club can afford him.
