Di Marzio: Milan could accelerate talks over Penarol striker – Inter and Fiorentina also interested

AC Milan are one of the clubs interested in signing Agustin Alvarez from Penarol but face competition from two other sides in Italy, a report claims.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio on his website grandhotelcalciomercato, Alvarez’s agent Edgardo Lasalvia was in Italy to meet with various clubs, and while Darwin Nunez is among his more notable clients, it is the Penarol man that is attracting some serious interest.

His agent met Inter, Fiorentina and Milan as per the report, and it served as an interlocutory meeting to begin a discourse that should be developed in the summer. The 20-year-old does not have an EU passport which makes things more difficult.

Alvarez is described as having good technique, intelligence in movements and also excellent finishing, features that have earned him the nickname of the ‘new Suarez’ even if it is early to make such comparisons. He has 13 goals in 24 league appearances for Penarol, plus 10 in 14 games in the last Copa Sudamericana.
