Comparing the chances created, goals scored and xG of each Serie A team so far this season

As we reach another international break, we have time to pause and reflect on the season up to this point and what it has taught us about each team.

Our excellent stats man Burak Manap has compiled a graphic which looks at the chances created, goals scored and expected goals for each team per 90 minutes in Serie A so far in the current campaign, and there are certainly some interesting results.

First of all, regarding Milan, the graph shows that the Rossoneri have scored more goals than they were expected to based on the number of chances they generate and the quality of those chances, with quite a substantial G to xG gap. They still create more opportunities than all other teams bar Roma and Inter, though.

Inter’s data suggests they should have scored more goals while Napoli are similar to Milan in that they are over-performing from a G to xG perspective. Juventus, Roma and Atalanta have a higher xG than G figure, while the opposite can be said for Lazio.
