The imminent arrival of Divock Origi on a free transfer does not exclude the signing of another striker by AC Milan this summer, a report claims.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan management know that they need a centre-forward that they can build around for the future given that there are doubts over whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic will extend his deal while Olivier Giroud will turn 36 this year and only has a contract until 2023.
The signing of Divock Origi will soon be defined in detail as the Rossoneri management managed to convince the Belgian by offering him the same salary he gets at Liverpool, which is €3.5m net per season plus bonuses. He will sign a four-year deal.
The arrival of the former Lille man would not close the incoming market and Milan would look for another strong striker, prepared to make a substantial expense on a player between 22 and 25 years old, with an agile and not too imposing physique, able to fill more roles if necessary and who have good experience already.
The first name that responds to this is Jonathan David of Lille, who is a Canada international and won the league last season, plus he can play as a first or second striker and has plenty of room to improve given he is 22.
The other option is Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City. It is logical to assume that he is ready to leave the Premier League club as they have decided to sign Erling Haaland, so Milan could take advantage of the situation to snatch him at a cheaper price.
