Roma have found themselves in a situation where sales will need to help finance the signings they make this summer and one potential exit concerns Milan.
Calciomercato.com report that Henrik Mkhitaryan will leave as he has chosen to join Inter and that will free about €5.25m gross per season, while the second potential departure concerns the negotiation regarding the renewal of Nicolò Zaniolo’s contract.
His current deal is set to expire on 30 June 2024 and the Giallorossi are reflecting. They know that to keep him it will take a significant financial commitment, but this is the last summer in which they can collect a large sum from a sale without running the risk of losing Zaniolo on a free transfer, as in 2023 he would be one year from expiry.
Milan and Juventus remain keen on signing him and Roma believe they can get €45-50m for the 22-year-old, when also taking into account the 15% that Inter would get from proceeds on a future resale, and that is a figure that would inject plenty of funds for signings that Jose Mourinho wants.
