After Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic had each squandered 1v1s in the first half, there were flashbacks to some of the other points dropped against teams at the bottom end of the table, especially as the clock ticked into the 90th minute.
However, with just seconds of normal time left, Strahinja Pavlovic turned in a cross from a short corner that Koni De Winter flicked on to break the deadlock. Then, right at the end of the four added minutes, Rafael Leao tucked in a square ball from Christopher Nkunku to make it 2-0 and cap the win.
The victory was another important one for the Rossoneri, who might not be in the title fight any more but remain battling for the top four positions and a return to the Champions League.
