CorSport: How Milan could line-up vs. Monza as Fonseca changes ‘almost everything’

After the loss to Napoli, changes are expected at AC Milan, and Paulo Fonseca is prepared to make wholesale changes this weekend.

For many, the midweek loss has effectively written off Milan’s season. There is now an 11-point gap between the two clubs, and whilst the Rossoneri have a game in hand, a hypothetical eight-point gap is still difficult to overturn in 28 games.

This is without even considering the workload that the Diavolo face with the amount of competitions that they are in.

Because of the loss, Fonseca must go to back to the drawing board, and a report from Corriere dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan) has stated that the Portuguese is planning on changing ‘almost everything’ against Monza tomorrow.

Davide Calabria, Luka Jovic, and Tammy Abraham are all hopeful of being within the squad, with the latter awaiting a decision after this morning’s training session to confirm if he is able to play a role this weekend. Elsewhere, Matteo Gabbia will not be present due to injury.

With the players at his disposal, Fonseca is planning a ‘reshuffle’. Mike Maignan will remain between the sticks, but Calabria, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez should return after his suspension, with Malick Thiaw being the only survivor.

Tijjani Reijnders will partner Youssouf Fofana, whilst Rafael Leao and Samuel Chukwueze are expected to re-enter the team, meaning Christian Pulisic will play behind Alvaro Morata.
