CM.it: Milan monitoring situation of RB Leipzig forward again after 2020 pursuit

AC Milan are still keeping an eye on the situation of Dani Olmo who is yet to renew his contract with RB Leipzig, according to a report.

The Rossoneri were strongly linked with a move for the Spain international during the January 2020 transfer window which followed on from links during the previous summer, and at one point it was reported in Croatia that a deal was almost completely agreed.

Former Chief Football Officer Zvonimir Boban was the one negotiating and he used the excellent relationship he has with his compatriots to try and get everything over the line, but then the deal stalled and he went to Leipzig, as his agent explained later that year.

Calciomercato.it have published a report which notes that Milan signed Charles De Ketelaere for the role of playmaker and they are willing to wait for him to get into form, believing that he will explode in time, but next summer a player could be signed to bolster the attack should he continue to struggle.

That’s where Dani Olmo’s name could arise again. The 25-year-old Spaniard’s contract with Leipzig is set to expire in 2024 and so far renewal negotiations have not taken off. Max Eberl – the managing director of the German club – hasn’t lost hope, but he would probably be forced to sell in the summer if he does not renew.

At that point Milan could try again but would have to beat the competition from several top clubs such as Barcelona. Olmo has been with the Bundesliga side since the winter window of 2020, amassing 12 goals and 15 assists in 73 Bundesliga games.
