ML: New attacking midfielder on the agenda for Milan in January – €12-15m man targeted

The Milan management are aware that a purchase for the attacking department is currently likely to be needed in January, a report claims.

Given the recent injury problems and the fact Brahim Diaz had Covid, Rafael Leao and Alexis Saelemaekers have been forced to work overtime. Junior Messias has not had the desired impact having made just one appearance while Alessandro Florenzi is recovering from knee surgery and Ante Rebic has an ankle problem.

Milan have the Milan derby to contest before the next international break which should help some players regain their fitness and be ready for the resumption, but it is clear that the attacking depth is not there at the moment.

MilanLive writes that – in view of the January transfer market – if Milan are still fighting for the Scudetto then the purchase of a new attacking midfielder seems to be on the mind of the management, and Brest’s Romain Faivre appears the most likely target.

The Rossoneri tried to sign him during the summer but Brest pulled the plug after the player tried to force his exit, but in the next few weeks negotiations could be resumed to unblock the situation. Faivre has not downed tools either as he has amassed 11 games in Ligue 1, scoring 3 times and adding 4 assists. His price would be around €12-15m.
