There was to be no fairy tale night for AC Milan as they lost 2-1 to Liverpool at San Siro to put an end to their European campaign for the 2021-22 season.
Milan went into the final Champions League group stage hoping to secure an unlikely progression to the last 16 of the competition but knew they needed to win against Klopp’s side and hope for the right result from Portugal, neither of which ended up happening.
