AC Milan will not rush their pursuit of a new centre-back because they are optimistic about the return of two current players, a report claims.
Calciomercato.com reports that news of Alessio Romagnoli’s recovery from Covid-19 and subsequent return to the squad for training – which will occur tomorrow – has made head coach Stefano Pioli and his technical staff feel a bit more at ease about the current defensive crisis.
The club captain will be available to Milan for the crucial match against on Sunday 23 of January which is a big boost given Pierre Kalulu and Matteo Gabbia have been the ones holding the fort so far in 2022.
Regarding Fikayo Tomori, the club are optimistic to have him available in three weeks, and that – combined with Romagnoli’s return – is why there is no rush to go out and sign a new centre-back in January. In fact, a defender will only arrive if the player and the deal are right.
