Romano: Milan working urgently to extend contract of midfielder on Klopp’s Liverpool list

AC Milan are working on the renewal of Ismael Bennacer but Liverpool are lurking in the background ready to pounce, a report claims.

Fabrizio Romano reports for SOSFanta that there are ongoing talks between Bennacer and Milan over a renewal because the Algerian midfielder has shown an opening to extend his contract with the Rossoneri despite changing agents.

Now he is assisted by Enzo Raiola, the man who had a discussion with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara on Wednesday afternoon at Casa Milan. It was a positive meeting because Milan made an initial proposal which will now be evaluated by the player together with his agents.

New contacts will be needed and nothing is decided, but in the meantime Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ‘appreciates’ Bennacer and is studying him as one of many profiles on the list of midfield targets for summer 2024, along with Jude Bellingham, Enzo Fernandez, Sofyan Amrabat and more.

That’s why Milan wants to accelerate and lock down Bennacer, who is behaving with the ‘utmost professionalism’, but before talking about agreements further talks are needed.
