ML: Three deals touted as Milan-Atletico axis heats up – €40m winger and €20m defender involved

AC Milan could be set for a hot market axis with LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid this summer, according to a report.

MilanLive writes that there are three deals that could take place between Milan and Atletico when the window reopens, starting with captain Alessio Romagnoli whose future at Milan ‘hangs by a thread’. In the coming weeks there will be a meeting with his agent Mino Raiola to see if his contract – expiring in 2022 – can be extended, but the signs are not good as the Rossoneri do not want to raise his current €3.5m net per season salary, with Raiola wanting €6m.

Milan are waiting for concrete offers and a fee of €20-25m would be enough, and Los Colchoneros have long been monitoring the 26-year-old especially given Stefan Savic and José Maria Gimenez could leave.

Then, Atletico Madrid have enquired also about Samu Castillejo. The Spaniard’s name is on the list of players who can leave as well as the captain’s after a sub-par season. Paolo Maldini is a big fan meanwhile of Angel Correa who could come in to replace him, even if the Argentine’s valuation is high (around €40m).

During the season Correa scored 9 goals and added 11 assists, and in recent days he has confirmed previous interest from Milan. He could be a perfect signing for Pioli, who could use him as a No.10 and as a right winger.
