MN: Botman ‘holding on’ to idea of joining Milan over Newcastle despite Lille’s will

AC Milan are hoping to use Sven Botman’s will as leverage in negotiations with Lille over the signing of the defender, a report claims.

MilanNews writes that there will be at least four or five quality new signings that arrive this summer and the first two pieces will be Divock Origi on a free transfer and Renato Sanches from Lille, and a centre-back will also arrive.

Milan have had Botman’s preference for seven months and they continue to speak with his entourage to reaffirm their willingness to buy him from the Ligue 1 club, but the competition from Newcastle United has disturbed the negotiations.

Lille would prefer to collect more money and therefore sell to the higher bidder, but the player can be decisive in this. The report adds that the Dutchman is ‘holding on’ to the idea of joining Milan and he will try to do so until the end.
