‘Kaka, Sheva, Pato and David Beckham’ – Morata advised on Milan move by legends

Alvaro Morata has revealed that he spoke to several iconic AC Milan players before he made his decision to join the club, and he clearly heard good things.

Morata became Milan’s first summer signing after his €13m release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract was triggered, and he put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Rossoneri.

He will likely become the new starting centre-forward barring any surprises and therefore he has the task of replacing Olivier Giroud, who was the top scorer in all competitions last season but has gone to the United States.

The Spaniard certainly arrives full of confidence though given that he has just captained Spain to the European Championship title in Germany, and he is coming off the back of his best individual goal scoring season (21 in all competitions).

Morata spoke during his unveiling press conference today and he was asked about his decision to join Milan and those who might have convinced him to.

“Ibra is one of my greatest idols, I always asked him everything through friends. It makes me dream to be next to him,” he said.

“I spoke to Kakà, I spoke with Sheva, Pato and David Beckham: he told me that you can see that there is something different in Milan. In the history of football, a large part was written here.”
