Moretto: Milan working ‘above all on exits’ but two midfielders could arrive

Kone Fofana

AC Milan could end up signing both Youssouf Fofana and Manu Kone this summer but they must first of all work on some sales, according to Matteo Moretto.

The pursuit of a new midfielder (or two) is becoming a long saga with no signs of an immediate end. After making quick ground on the Fofana front by agreeing personal terms, Milan have been unable to strike a deal with Monaco who are playing hard ball over the fee.

Alternative names have been mentioned like Kone, but at the same time there is the need to offload players not deemed part of the plans in order to free spots in the squad, generate transfer funds and lighten the wage budget.

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto on Relevo’s Twitch channel (via Radio Rossonera), Milan are ‘focused on Fofana’ and while Koné is ‘also on their wish list’, he could be ‘an alternative to Fofana or in addition’.

However, a lot will depend on the sales because the Rossoneri now need to ‘work above all on the exits’ for the aforementioned reasons. No names are mentioned, but the likes of Yacine Adli, Tommaso Pobega and Ismael Bennacer have been linked with moves away.
