According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the big Easter Monday match could decide who Inter’s main rivals for the title are. However, the Azzurri and the Rossoneri are also engaged in a transfer market duel, and the subject of it is Leon Goretzka.

A battle for Leon

In addition to Milan, Napoli have now also registered an interest in the Bayern Munich midfielder. Juventus are also in the running, while there are a few other options abroad for the German to take into consideration.

Goretzka would represent a signing of quality and experience, given he has six Bundesliga titles and a Champions League medal. This season, his last in Bavaria without a now unlikely contract extension, he made 37 appearances, scoring two goals and two assists, winning the German Super Cup.

He’ll leave behind a monstrous salary of €9m net per season plus bonuses, but significant offers are expected. Milan’s management knows this, having made moves back in January, when they tried to bring the deal forward but to no avail.

His departure from Bayern Munich is official, and now a ‘chess game’ is about to start. Massimiliano Allegri knows how to manoeuvre his cards to bring in players that he wants, and the 31-year-old could be a good complement or even replacement for Luka Modric.
